Pediatric Primary Care
Dolly Parton Children's Hospital operates thirteen Primary Care Pediatrician offices throughout the East Tennessee area. It it vital to your child's health to establish them with a pediatrician when they are born, or when moving into the area. All of our pediatrician offices are available to take new patients and accept the same insurance plans as the hospital.
A pediatrician serves as a "hub" for your child's healthcare needs throughout their young life, from birth through their teen years. The pediatrician is the medical home for the young ones in your family, tracking growth and development, monitoring wellness and prevention and managing acute and chronic illnesses.
All of Dolly Parton Children's Hospital's Primary Care Pediatric offices communicate closely with the hospital, our Urgent Cares, Sub-specialists and all external health clinics to provide you and your child the best healthcare possible.
Services
A Primary Care Pediatrician offers many vital services for your child's health, including:
- Well-Child Visits & Vaccinations: Routine checkups tied to developmental milestones, school/sports physicals, and necessary immunizations.
- Sick Visits: Accommodations for common childhood illnesses (e.g., ear infections, fevers) and minor injuries.
- Screenings: Vision, hearing, and behavioral or developmental evaluations.
- Specialist Integration: Explicitly highlights seamless referral pathways to a network of pediatric sub-specialists and hospital emergency networks.
Pediatrician or Family Practice?
A pediatrician differs from a general family practitioner in that a pediatrician has undergone dedicated training focused entirely on the physical, emotional, and behavioral changes unique to kids from birth through young adulthood. When your child reaches 18 years old, your pediatrician will help them transition into a regular family practice physician for their emerging adult health needs.
